Product Overview

Enameled flat wire uses a rectangular conductor instead of a round one. Because the conductor fills the winding window far more efficiently, a flat winding achieves a higher slot fill factor than the equivalent round wire coil, allowing more copper in the same space, lower resistance, larger current capability and reduced temperature rise.

The greater conductor surface area also improves heat dissipation and reduces skin effect and high-frequency losses, which makes flat wire well suited to high-current and high-frequency duty. We supply flat wire in copper, aluminium and copper-clad aluminium from 0.1 mm thickness in thermal classes 180 to 220.

Key Advantages

  • Dual manufacturing hubs in Changzhou and Foshan, China, covering both fine-gauge and heavy-gauge production.
  • Full production range from 0.04 mm to 2.50 mm, supporting everything from micro-motors to large power equipment.
  • Monthly output of approximately 3,000 tons, with stable capacity for repeat and high-volume programmes.
  • ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified quality and environmental management systems.
  • RoHS and REACH compliant insulation systems for European and North American markets.
  • Wire manufactured in accordance with IEC, NEMA, GB and JIS international standards.
  • Higher slot fill than round wire, allowing more conductor in the same space.
  • Larger cross-section reduces resistance and improves current capability.
  • Greater surface area improves heat dissipation and reduces skin effect.
  • Low vibration, low noise and excellent electromagnetic performance.

Product Features

  • Coil occupies less space for the same electrical rating.
  • Larger conductor cross-section within the same winding window.
  • Improved slot fill factor permits higher current without overheating.
  • Significantly improved skin effect and lower high-frequency loss.
  • Enhanced heat dissipation for high-current operation.
  • Low vibration, low noise and excellent electromagnetic characteristics.
  • Smooth, uniform enamel coating with controlled edge geometry.

Typical Applications

  • New-energy and traction motors.
  • Dry-type and special transformers.
  • Welding machines, rectifiers and reactors.
  • Large low-voltage electromagnetic windings.
  • High-frequency inductors and power electronics.
  • Hair-pin and precision motor winding technologies.

Enamel Type Reference

The enamel designations below are the international equivalents of the Chinese GB codes. All five enamel systems are available on copper, aluminium and copper-clad aluminium conductors, and can be combined with the insulation grades and thermal classes shown on this page.

GB CodeInternational CodeEnamel TypeThermal Class / Feature
QAUEWPolyurethane Enameled WireDirect solderable; 130 / 155 / 180 °C

Overseas customers normally work with the international codes (UEW, PEW, EIW, AIW). When specifying a grade, please state the international code together with the required thermal class, for example UEW 155 °C or EI/AIW 200 °C.

FAQ

Q
Why use flat wire instead of round wire?
Flat wire fills the winding window more completely. For the same space you gain a larger conductor cross-section, which lowers resistance, increases current capability and reduces temperature rise. Better surface-to-volume ratio also improves heat dissipation and reduces skin effect at higher frequencies.
Q
Which conductor material should I choose for flat wire?
Copper gives the highest conductivity and is standard for new-energy motors. Aluminium reduces weight by around 60% at equal volume and is preferred where mass matters. Copper-clad aluminium balances both, retaining a solderable copper surface with a lighter core.
Q
Can custom dimensions be produced?
Yes. We produce flat wire to your specified thickness and width combination, including ultra-flat and heavy sizes, with controlled corner radius to protect the enamel film during winding. Send us your drawing for a feasibility check and quotation.
Q
Can you produce custom diameters, colours and thermal classes?
Yes. As a manufacturer operating two production bases, we can customise conductor diameter, enamel build, colour and thermal class to match your drawing or reference sample. Send us your specification and we will confirm feasibility and tooling lead time.
Q
Do you provide samples for evaluation?
Yes. Standard specifications can be supplied as free samples for qualification testing; freight is normally arranged on a collect basis. Customised specifications may require a small sample charge, which is credited against your first bulk order.
Q
What is the typical lead time?
Standard specifications are typically dispatched within 7 to 15 working days after order confirmation. Lead time for customised or high-volume orders is confirmed at the quotation stage.
Q
How is the wire packed for export?
Wire is wound on plastic or plywood spools, individually wrapped to prevent moisture and mechanical damage, then packed in carton boxes on pallets or in plywood cases. Packing is suitable for both sea and air freight, and customised spool sizes and pallet configurations are available.
Q
What documentation is supplied with each shipment?
Each shipment is accompanied by a packing list, commercial invoice and certificate of origin where applicable. Inspection and test reports covering conductor diameter, enamel thickness, elongation, flexibility and breakdown voltage can be provided on request.
